Anti-wrinkle injections using botulinum toxin (a purified protein which temporarily blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles which cause wrinkles and lines allowing these to relax) are used for smoothing frown, forehead, laughter and upper lip lines/wrinkles.
The same injections can improve hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Using a very fine needle the injections are given into different sites, to spread out evenly in each area treated. A course of treatment takes no longer than 15 minutes to deliver.
The injections are very quick and simple to perform and should only cause minor discomfort.
Avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas for 24 hours. As this can cause the injected solution to spread to other adjacent muscles.
Stay upright as much as practically possible for the hours after treatment, this will help prevent the solution from migrating to unintended areas.
Driving is permitted after botox injections, as long as your vision is unaffected.
Keep injection areas clean after treatment for 24 hour, no creams, no massages, and no make-up to avoid risk of infection.
Aftercare appointments are not usually required, but if a top-up is required, you will be able to arrange this within 2-3 weeks of initial treatment. We are happy to see any patients for a check up for progress if they wish, but most patients are happy not to be seen in between treatments.
If you have swelling or discomfort at the injection sites, apply a cold compress to help reduce inflammation and alleviate tenderness.
To reduce the risk of bruising, it is advisable to refrain from consuming alcohol and blood-thinning medications for a few days.
